Schwarzenegger Rewards Children with Army Tank?

On February 19, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger had an Austrian army tank shipped into Los Angeles as an effort to encourage students to stay in school. The tank could previously be found in Groveport, Ohio at the Motts Military Museum, owned by Warren Motts, who says "I'm pleased we had the opportunity to have it and let people see it. It was neat to have a Hollywood connection."

Schwarzenegger has chosen to allow the students of an inner-city Los Angeles school the chance to ride in this tank that he drove during his military service in Austria. He believes that this offer will encourage the children to work hard in school and steer clear of drugs.

I was not aware of army tanks being the new alternative to drug usage and to skipping school; if Schwarzenegger thinks he can pull it off then it would be rewarding in more ways than one. Although it may seem like a good idea to him, I'm sure there are better ways to keep children off the streets and in classrooms. The army tank may be an exciting reward at first, but children will soon get bored and go back to their usual ways.
