The NFL and Apple Teamup.

Well it's finally happened, we have reached a period in time where Apple inc. seems to be taking over our technological world. The National Football League (NFL) and Apple® today announced that they will bring 2006 NFL regular season action to the iTunes® Store. itunes® is now offering NFL lovers a chance see all their favorite game highlights. itunes® will offer downloads of highlights from any and all football games for $1.99 per game, or you can follow one team by paying a season pass of $24.99, which includes automatic updates and downloads. The NFL Vice President of Media Strategies states "We’re convinced offering NFL highlights produced by Emmy Award-winning NFL Films and NFL Network’s GameDay on iTunes® is a great way for fans to not only follow their team but also experience the NFL as they never have before.”

I think this is a very effective strategy for Apple® to gain a larger number of subscribers. They use an ethical persuasive appeal by trying to appeal to a different group of individuals, NFL fans. Apple® is persuading NFL fans by offering them something that has never been done, the opportunity to download any game highlights and watch them when ever you want. Before now itunes® seemed to target more towards youthful music lovers.

The NFL is the largest national sports league with the largest number of fans, which is why I believe Apple® is interested in them. No other online source has this deal with the NFL therefore it is exclusively found on itunes® . Apple with defiantly gain new business simply through sports fans who don't have the expensive NFL Network, or through sport fans who are constantly on the go and who don't watch much television.
